Andrea Rontini photographer

Andrea RontiniAndrea Rontini was born in Antella near Florence where he lives today.

His professional career started around the ’80s in photography groups in town and, in several years, his profound passion turned into a rewarding profession full of accomplishments.

His work has been shown at important exhibitions in our country, in France and the United States at the New Arts Gallery in Connecticut, including both private and public collections.

He has received countless awards from photographic associations, organizations and institutions.

This careful poet, through his magic lens of the Tuscan landscape, has been chosen for publications in photographic reviews as well as foreign and Italian periodicals. As an editor and with his pictures alone, he is the author of calendars, postcards, bookmarks and books on photography: "Toscana Poetica" (1999), "La Fotografia del Chianti" (2003), "Enchanting Umbria" (2008), "Toscana Poetica: landscapes, views and villages" (2013) and “Toscana Poetica: landscapes” (2016).

In 2002 he was part of an Italian photography team which was awarded the world cup for landscapes in a contest with representatives from countries all around the world (20th Biennial FIAP contest in Belgium).

In 2006 an honour called AFI (Italian Photographic Artist) was conferred upon him by the FIAF (Italian Federation of Photographic Associations).

In the years 2007 and 2014, he won the International award offered by the "Casato Prime Donne" winery in Montalcino.

The year 2010 saw the beginning of a new professional challenge for Rontini: passing on his expertise through photography courses. His aim is to impart knowledge not only about lighting and composition, but also about the cultural aspect of landscapes: knowledge which has been handed down through numerous works on canvas taking up this theme from the greatest artists of the Renaissance right up to present day. The courses are based on theory and practice with group outings in the most emblematic places in Tuscany, which are also the best suited to producing a practical application of theory. The opportunity to take an active part generates enthusiasm and momentum which is felt by all the participants.

In 2013, with an Italian team of FIAF photographers, he was awarded a gold medal in the 25th Biennial FIAP contest in Argentina.

In 2014, further to numerous requests, he took up the challenge of developing his own personal model of ‘workshop’.

In 2015, another activity began to take shape as he was called in for photo shoots of vineyards, farms, tourism infrastructure and ceremonies.

Rontini’s creative maturity has become chromatic and formal essentiality and it is conveyed on photographic paper with unusual elegance: matching colours of magical places are mixed and rarefied, dilating endlessly in the delicacy of their unrepeatable moments. Time, in his pictures, becomes space in sheer beauty.
Landscapes, in photography, are a subject used a great deal no doubt, but Andrea Rontini images distinguish themselves by quality, light, framing and composition.
He misses no chance to catch a beam at sunset in a red sky or a cloud crossing a sunray and lighting up to just that eagerly awaited point. He uses objective lenses not only to frame the image but also to give it a soul, weaving every detail into a poem.

In order to grasp the true nature of his photographic style, it’s worth a visit to his Gallery in Castellina in Chianti, where it is possible to admire his beautiful Cibachrome pictures printed in limited edition.
